Message from Steve Groff
Like all farmers, I am endlessly curious about new ways to build up my soil, which led me to investigate the use of cover crops.
In 2001, with the help of Dr. Ray Weil, professor of environmental science & technology at the University of Maryland, I started experimenting with Tillage Radishes as a cover crop. I was amazed with the quick germination and growth as well as the outstanding winter annual weed control. When I planted corn I could clearly see the improved planting conditions the Tillage Radishes created. Crop yields have always been higher in fields where Tillage Radishes were used as a cover crop. Other farmers took notice and demand for Tillage Radish seed quickly grew. Now, interest in Tillage Radishes has spread throughout the country.

Tillage radish is an innovative choice of crop cover that is proving valuable to farmers nationwide. As more and more farmers practice sustainable agriculture, “green tillage,” more commonly referred to as cover cropping, is commonplace to leverage soil conditions. There are multiple time, monetary and environmental advantages to growing radishes for improved field quality and management.
Tillage Radishes proudly produces a portion of our product and partners with reputable seed distributors to provide homegrown, superior seed on which growers can depend.
